iPhone 5 release

After multiple rumors surfaced online heralding the possibility of September unveiling for the iPhone 5, new rumor added credence, saying that the next generation Apple smartphone will hit stores in October.

Multiple websites led by BGR report that the iPhone 5 release date will be in October, and an AT&T executive allegedly confirmed the “busy month,” apparently, AT&T is one of the carriers that are expected to release the iPhone 5 in USA, alongside CDMA-centric Verizon Wireless. According to the reports, one of BGR’s AT&T sources said that the company’s vice president has informed the employees of the carrier that the iPhone 5 will debut in US smartphone market in October. The AT&T VP also told the carrier’s staff that the next 35 – 50 days are going to be very busy due to the iPhone 5, and “should prepare their things accordingly.”

Apparently, the iPhone 5 October release date rumor is not new in the tech world, with All Things D already dismissed the September rumors, saying that the dual-core Apple smartphone should arrive by October sporting a new design and the phone is not a “slight upgrade” that some websites have claimed.

The iPhone 5 include a dual-core processor, Qualcomm’s dual-mode GSM/CDMA baseband and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera. Apple is also expected to release its iOS 5 operating system update in October, so it is highly possible that the iOS 5 and the iPhone 5 will share the same release date.

Meanwhile, some bloggers believe that Apple will officially announce the iPhone 5 in September, in line with the company’s annual September event that should also unveil a new iPod Touch. If Apple will still follow its yearly tradition, then it is highly possible that the October release date is more accurate than the previous rumors saying that September could be the release month of the mythical device.
